Former teacher accused of sexual abuse of 4 children reaches plea agreement

A former Guam public school teacher accused of sexually abusing four children has reached a plea agreement. Miles R. Washington, who most recently worked as a program coordinator at the Guam Department of Education, was initially accused in 2018 after three children came forward, followed by a fourth later that year.
Attorneys on both sides confirmed that a formal plea deal has been reached. Prosecutor Christine Tenorio told Superior Court Judge Alberto Lamorena that the agreement is in place, with signatures pending and another hearing set for July 10.
Washington faces two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. If convicted at trial, he could have faced life in prison.
Washington was transferred to a non-teaching role at GDOE’s Central Office. The department confirmed he has begun out-processing and is leaving the agency.
