Sodexco permit pulled over pests at Finegayan Elementary School

A pest infestation at Finegayan Elementary School's cafeteria has prompted Public Health to suspend Sodexco Food Service's sanitary permit. The Division of Environmental Health released inspection results from June 24, identifying the presence of insects, rodents, and other animals.
In response, the Guam Department of Education says the cafeteria is not being used for food preparation or service, with all meals now being prepared and pre-packaged off-site.
And as summer school continues, GDOE notes the rest of the campus remains operational.
In the meantime, Guam DOE says it is taking immediate steps with Sodexco to address the issue, including sealing entry points by fixing holes and gaps in doors to prevent pests, removing the stage area where rodent activity was found, and other corrective measures.
There is no set date for reinspection, but Gdoe maintains it does not expect the suspension to extend into the new school year.
Meanwhile, Price Elementary received a "C" rating from Public Health, citing inadequate vector control and restrooms not kept in good repair.
