A big step forward for Guam’s veterans - Congressman James Moylan’s amendment to establish a permanent veterans affairs regional office on island has passed the US House of Representatives.

The provision, part of the 2026 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, directs the VA secretary to begin laying the groundwork for a full-service office, something Moylan calls long overdue.

Moylan adding, “Our veterans deserve to be honored....this amendment is about delivering the recognition and care they’ve earned.”

Guam has one of the highest veteran populations per capita in the country, and serves as a key IndoPacific hub. Moylan says the time to act is now, especially as the military expands its presence in the region.

The bill now moves to the Senate. Moylan has pledged to keep up the momentum and make sure Guam’s veterans are no longer overlooked.
