Conviction stands for child predator after Supreme court rejects appeal

The Supreme Court of Guam has upheld the conviction of Duayne Richard Peters, a man found guilty of sexually assaulting a child under 13.
Convicted by a jury in 2022 on six felony counts, including first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct, Peters will now serve his full 30-year prison sentence.
His appeal? Denied.
Guam’s highest court ruled that his claims of ineffective counsel and an unlawful plea deal were baseless, reaffirming the verdict delivered by 12 brave jurors and the powerful testimony of a young survivor whose courage stopped this predator from harming others.
Attorney General Prosecutor Christine Tenorio led the charge in court, ensuring the jury’s decision stood firm, a victory for victims, for truth, and for the safety of our island’s children.
