Suspect accused in Yigo attack requesting bail ahead of trial

A man accused in a violent Yigo kidnapping and shooting is asking the court for a chance at bail.
Jathan John Pangelinan Tedtaotao has spent more than two months behind bars and insists on his right to a speedy trial.
This attorney told the court that a motion for bail was filed last month.
But Superior Court Judge Maria Cenzon said arguments for release will need to be heard by a magistrate judge, as Tedtaotao’s trial date quickly approaches.
The case now moves toward trial, with deadlines set for discovery and witness lists in the coming weeks. A final pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 8, and jury selection is expected to begin July 17.
Tedtaotao is one of three siblings accused in an April 2 incident that left a man shot and severely beaten. He faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. He also faces a special allegations involving the use of a deadly weapon and committing crimes while on felony release.
