Serious concerns are being raised about the financial management at Career Tech High Academy Charter School in Hagat. Independent auditors from Ernst & Young issued a disclaimer of opinion on the school’s finances for both Fiscal Years 2021 and 2022, meaning they could not verify the accuracy of career tech’s financial statements due to missing records and incomplete documentation.

Among the issues: the school had not completed its bank reconciliations, and auditors couldn’t confirm over ninety thousand dollars in disbursements and expenses, including nearly $190,000 in payroll costs for 2022.

Material weaknesses in internal controls were also flagged, like revenues posted in the wrong period and discrepancies in bank and depreciation records.

This marked Career Tech’s first-ever audit, delayed by years of procurement troubles and leadership changes. Although progress was made, auditors say the school still failed to provide key supporting documents, preventing a full financial review.
