Traffic stop leads to woman charged with drug possession

A routine traffic stop for a child standing unsecured in a moving vehicle took a dangerous turn and led to a drug arrest.
It happened just after ten in the morning on June 8, when an officer spotted a car missing its front license plate and a young boy freely moving around the back seat, unrestrained.
During the stop, the passenger, identified as 33-year-old Ashley Rae Babauta Flores, admitted to having drug paraphernalia in her bag.
A search turned up a modified glass pipe containing a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Flores reportedly told the officer, 'I'm sorry, I just smoked this morning. I know I need help.'
She was arrested and now faces a third-degree felony charge for possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
