National Weather Service: Drier week ahead for the Marianas

After a wet start to June, drier weather is returning to the Marianas this week and that means a rising fire risk.
According to this week’s regional weather outlook from the National Weather Service, last week’s rainfall helped ease drought conditions and lowered the fire danger rating from high to moderate.
But with the drier pattern coming back, fire risk will begin to creep up again until more frequent rains return.
Extreme drought still persists across Guam, Rota, and parts of Micronesia, but Guam could see improvements in this week’s U.S. drought monitor update.
There are no tropical cyclone threats in our region at this time, but residents are reminded that June is Typhoon Preparedness Month.
