Congressman Moylan calls on army leaders to support Guam Guard

Congressman James Moylan called on army leadership to strengthen commitments to Guam's defense needs in the upcoming fiscal year budget.
Moylan went before a house armed services committee hearing on Thursday.
He sought assurance from Army Chief of Staff General Randy George and Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll that, “Guam's guardsmen would have access to modern equipment, receive consistent training opportunities and fully participate in regional exercises under the FY26 budget.”
“As we move into the FY26 cycle, will your budget prioritize facilities used by the Guam Army National Guard and how can I work with your department to enhance the needs of the Guam Guard in the Indo-Pacific,” asked Moylan.
“We would love to work with you more about that and I can follow up with specifics to your office,” said Driscoll.
“Congressman, I want to tell you that we’re very proud of the Guam Guard and you know that from being out there. As you know, they are part of that unit out there. We're trying to make that a better mix for the people that actually live there and defend Guam,” added George.
The general says the Army recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps leadership to ensure coordinated support for improved infrastructure development.
Meantime, the delegate promised continued support to strengthen Guam's role in national defense and to ensure local service members receive the resources they need to meet the mission.
