The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for possible occupants of an adrift inflatable dinghy discovered off the reef near the Westin Hotel in Tumon Bay.

The grey raft was first spotted the morning of May 27, about a quarter nautical mile offshore, with no engine and no immediate signs of distress.

Search crews from Station Apra Harbor and USCGC Oliver Henry scoured the area, along with Guam Fire, Police, Homeland Security investigations, and Customs but found no new leads.

The dinghy was towed to the Hagåtña Boat Basin and contained fuel cans, fresh food, shoes, and a fishing rod, suggesting a short trip that may have been interrupted.

Coast Guard officials say there are no reports of missing persons, but they’re asking for the public’s help to identify the dinghy’s origin.
