Just before primetime, a public hearing is being held on how some $500.8 million in federal disaster recovery funds should be spent.

It's the first of three public hearings for the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery “Fix in Six” program.

The hearing is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Guam Legislature public hearing room.

Officials are expected to present and discuss the draft action plan for the anticipated federal funds that Guam will receive from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

These funds are designated to support recovery efforts following Typhoon Mawar.

The program is allocated from supplemental funding and is specifically designed to provide supplemental disaster recovery assistance, according to GHURA.

GHURA says it is separate from the annually funded community development block grant, which as reported is one of the programs the Trump Administration is looking to eliminate.

We'll have more on the key highlights of the public hearing tomorrow on primetime.
