Guam drivers and passengers are encouraged to buckle up as part of the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign, a new safety effort by the Guam Department of Public Works Office of Highway Safety and U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Safety Administration.

The campaign runs from May 19 to June 2, 2025 and aims to enforce seat belts enforcement efforts day and night in high-crash areas around the island.

From 2021 to 2023, data from the Guam Police Department recorded Tamuning, Dededo, Barrigada, Hagatna, Mangilao, and Yigo as areas where traffic crashes were most prevalent.

Officers will carry a zero tolerance policy to unbelted motorists to work towards the goal of keeping Guam drivers and roads safe.

“If this enforcement effort helps even one person realize the dangers of unrestrained driving, it will be worth it,” DPW Director Vince Arriola said. “We encourage everyone to remind their friends and family: Buckle up - every trip, every time, everyone! Whether you’re sitting in the front or back, whether you’re an adult or a child, wear your seatbelt. It could save your life.”
