With Guam currently under a fire weather watch, firefighters were put to the test today as units from the Guam Fire Department, with backup from an Andersen Fire and Emergency services tanker, responded to a blaze in Barrigada.

According to GFD Spokesperson Lt. Nick Garrido, firefighters staged along Anderson Street, focusing their efforts near homes dangerously close to the flames.

That area, which borders the back of the Eagle's Field, is federal property.

Crews remain on scene, continuing to monitor hotspots and flare-ups. This comes just a day after another fire broke out behind Untalan Middle School, forcing nearby residents to evacuate due to thick smoke.

With dry conditions and high winds, officials are urging the community to stay alert and take extra precautions as a red flag warning remains for Guam until Friday.
