Western fence lizard found hitching a ride from California

Guam Customs and Quarantine intercepted a pest hitching a ride among a shipment of cars from California on Tuesday.
Experts from the Guam Department of agriculture identified the blue-bellied reptile as a western fence lizard.
As its name suggests, this lizard is commonly found in western states, particularly California.
Guam state entomologist Christopher Rosario told KUAM the new reptile introduction can have significant impacts on native fauna.
He also notes their bites are ‘pretty painful.’
Kudos to this collaborative effort between the Guam Port Authority, Customs and Quarantine, and Agriculture.
