Complaint: Standoff suspect threatened to kill bank employee

The man who threatened to kill an employee at Bank Pacific and ‘suicide by cop’ on Monday morning has been charged in Superior Court today.
Thirty-eight-year-old Joseph Calvo Atalig is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
According to court documents, police received a report of a person with possibly a gun outside Bank Pacific in Hagatna.
A woman known to the defendant made the call to police after he left voicemails and messages threatening to cause a scene at the bank.
The victim told police she knew he had access to guns as she once witnessed him put a gun to his head outside their residence.
As KUAM reported, the defendant barricaded himself inside his car causing a tense standoff with multiple officers with their weapons drawn.
After nearly an hour of failed negotiations, Special Operations Division officers eventually broke the window and breached the car.
Upon conducting a vehicle check, police found a makeshift glass pipe and a small baggie with meth.
Atalig has a criminal record that dates back to 2014 on criminal mischief charges. He was also arrested in 2020 accused of dealing drugs and again in 2021 on charges of terrorizing.
