CNMI releases water quality report

The Water Quality Report for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota is out.
“All community public water systems are required to do this on an annual basis and basically, it's a summary report of, the previous year's data sampling and updates that that said water system wants to report. So, the reports you're asking about are the three reports for CUC, Saipan, Rota, and Tinian. Each system is considered a public water system, so each one is required to do their separate consumer confidence report,” said Chief Engineer & Safe Drinking Water Manager Travis Spaeth.
Spaeth is a Chief Engineer and Safe Water Drinking Manager at the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality on Saipan.
He encourages the community to review the state of their water.
“A lot of people to see these reports and it's a lot of information. So I do encourage any, consumer, if you see this report, to actually look through it. You can always ask questions to the utility or the public water system…it is good to know what's in your water, too. So you know, I think one thing that stands out in CUC Saipan is the PFAS levels they have, they actually, you know, are nearly in violation in some instances, they weren't in 2023, but they were in 2022. And so, like…it gives you an idea of what the water quality is that's coming into your home and that you may be consuming from the tap,” he said.
The CUC is expected to fully install the Filtration Systems for the Isley Field to remove PFAS from the water later this year.
