Governor, Speaker remain at odds over CHamoru Land Trust nominee

Pointed words and bold claims flew between Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Speaker Therese Terlaje after both continue to clash over a nominee to the CHamoru Land Trust Commission.
The Governor accused the Speaker of holding leases pending CLTC approval hostage by not moving along nominee Jeffrey John Ibanez to the CLTC.
The Governor claimed Terlaje, who also chairs the Committee on Land, has refused to hold a public hearing on Ibanez’s nomination despite ten months of waiting, putting the CLTC at risk of losing quorum due to its lack of legislatively confirmed members.
In response to what she calls misleading statements, Speaker Terlaje wondered why the Governor gets involved in the legislative process to push this nominee.
The governor fired back, calling the Speaker's response both “strange and disappointing.”
