A delegation of CNMI leaders is participating in this week’s Haneda Travel Mission with the Guam Visitors Bureau and United Airlines in Japan.

Saipan Sen. Celina Babauta, Rota Sen. Donald Manglona, Rep. Ed Propst, Rep. John Paul Sablan, Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog, and Tinian Mayor Edwin Aldan make up the CNMI delegation.

“We need to stop sitting back and pretending things are just going to come to us. Japan is a critical market and we are fortunate Guam leaders realize we are all in this together,” Rep. Propst told KUAM News.

He added, “GVB President Gutierrez has invited representatives from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, and we are most grateful to be included in all high-level meetings with tour agents and United officials.”

Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog also welcomes the collaboration.

“I visited GVB and met with former Governor who helped form an action plan to assist our venture to promote and welcome more tourists to visit Rota. GVB will be chartering flights to bring in Japanese travel agents, tour agents, local influencers and members from MWR - military to experience a few days on Rota,” she told KUAM News.

She added, “When they arrive the Municipality will be partnering with the Rota Chamber of Commerce to put together a great experience for our Visitors. We are hoping to connect our visitors with the local business to generate travel packages to offer to the Japanese market. This is one angle we are looking to help increase the number of visitors coming into Rota. I did reach out to Chris Concepcion and MVA Rota Team to collaborate our resources as well.”

The trip is funded by the Guam Visitors Bureau.
