Vetoed Bill 213 fails to get the votes for an override. The measure would have had GovGuam agency and department head officials be given fines if they failed to provide their audits to the Office of Public Accountability past the deadline.

Vice Speaker Tina Muna Barnes, Senators Tom Fisher, Will Parkinson, Roy Quinata, Joe San Agustin, Amanda Shelton, and Dwayne San Nicolas voted against the override.

Adelup thanked the seven for their vote on what they call a “politically drive bill.”

The sponsor Senator Telo Taitague giving strong remarks on session floor.

“It seems the only sentiments of embracing collaboration spirits are only true when it’s at the behest of the governor. Rather than helping to ensure the government of Guam directors do their job, the governor by vetoing the bill, and you are sitting right next to them – those who voted no – the governor that by vetoing the bill sent a message to directors that they can continue to delay the completion of the audit without fear or repercussions," she said.

Senator San Nicolas said, “We don’t always do what the governor wants  us to do and I’ve noticed in politics in my short time here is sometimes the people who accuse you of the most wrongdoing may actually be themselves. So I wanted to end on a more positive note. You get the respect you give.”

More than a handful of measures are on its way to the governor's desk.
