The federal investigation into how a large amount of meth got into the prison is ongoing. Guam Department of Corrections today went before senators to discuss the issue.

Warden Alan Borja touched on what security measures have been taken to prevent more drugs and contraband from getting inside.

“It’s unfortunate what was discovered. I think this is the most I've ever seen in my career. So we’ve done some extra measures. Just last week, we did vehicle inspections with the K-9s and Special Ops, we’ve increased our baggage checks. We are working on authorized items that can be brought in by staff. We also have an intelligence management unit focused on listening on Paytel conversations which is very instrumental on some of our illegal activities,” said Borja.

As KUAM reported, more than 100 grams of meth was found on the inside about a month ago.

The prison also discussed overcrowding and projects underway in hopes to alleviate that issue.
