Shoppers at a Walmart store in Southern California got an extra special treat over the weekend with their shopping experience including a taste of the Marianas.

While it’s not a fiesta, a Marianas-style flash mob occurred inside a Walmart in San Diego.

Heidi Chargualaf Quenga said, “Groups came in from Tacoma, Washington, Las Vegas, Nevada, from Killeen and San Antonio, Texas, Dallas as well as San Diego and Long Beach here.”

The performance quickly blew up on social media. Sainas Heidi Quenga from Tamuning and Eric Reyes of Tinian are behind it.

“We do it for the love of our culture, we do it in honor of our Masters Saina Frank Rabon and Saina Eileen Meno and the tribal council back home,” said Quenga.

CHamoru pride echoed throughout the aisles and Reyes shared, “[It was] to let the people know this is who we are and we have arrived.”

An arrival of the people with more projects set to showcase all things Marianas in the coming weeks.
