Parents accused in death of one-year-old boy want separate trials

The couple accused in the death of their one year old baby boy could go to trial separately.
Co-defendants Giltinan Ramangmou and Paul John Cruz appeared before Judge Vernon Perez in the Superior Court today.
Ramangmou's Defense Attorney William Bischoff tells the court he's filed a motion for the mother to go to trial without Cruz.
Cruz's Defense Attorney Lenny Rapadas told the court he would be making the same request.
Judge Perez gave prosecutors until Monday to file its response.
Ramangmou remains held in prison on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and child abuse.
Cruz remains freed facing charges of child abuse and failure to provide.
Cruz and his attorney declined comment after today's hearing.
The child was found dead in their Dededo home after suffering from Battered Baby Syndrome.
Both are scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday.
Ramangmou's trial is set to begin on Dec. 20.
