Four million dollars in federal funding is making its way to the A.B. Won Pat International Airport.

Guam Del. James Moylan announced the House appropriations subcommittee on Transportation approved the money.

It's part of the congressional community project funding for Fiscal Year 2024.

Airport management specifically made the request.

Two million is slated to fund a comprehensive study to identify the requirements that would provide improved and expanded accessibility for individuals with disabilities at the airport.

Guam International Airport Authority management noted this would be inclusive of designs and specifications to improve the parking facilities, provide covered curbside canopies, address a digital signage content management system, upgrade restrooms, and install service animal relief areas

The other half would be used to update GIAA's fire alarm/fire suppression infrastructure and to integrate all facilities under the airport's jurisdiction under one centralized command and control system, essentially modernizing a 25-year-old system.
