The Guam Power Authority has begun its pre-storm preparation with protective measures at power plants and substations. Crews are also focused on tree-trimming and vegetation control.

Customers can help by clearing debris on their property that may pose a hazard during windy conditions. Should the storm knock out power, GPA reminds those who have backup generators to shut off the main circuit breaker of the house or buildings that are connected.

For safety, ensure that the generator is not in an enclosed area or located next to an air-conditioner intake or other air ducts leading into a building.

GPA also recommends unplugging sensitive electronic equipment to protect against fluctuations and outages.

Use high-quality surge suppressors for appliances that remain plugged.
