Over on Saipan, a 15-year-old boy was swept out into the ocean while swimming with friends at Marine Beach in Kagman village last Saturday.

CNMI police received a call about a distressed swimmer on April 29 at 1:13 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 1:59 p.m. to interview friends of the swimmer. Later that evening, authorities began searching the water. The U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter conducted an aerial search that evening.

The search continued Sunday morning with multiple law enforcement agencies. The search continues today with more help from local government agencies. KUAM is waiting for comment from police chief Clement Bermudes on why it took officers more than 40 minutes to arrive at the scene.
