28 police officers in the CNMI are placed on administrative duty for alleged unjustified overtime hours. Acting Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety Clement Bermudes says they are conducting a criminal investigation. In a media release, he adds, “The complaints of illegal and unjustified overtime involving several police officers will be taken seriously. Pending the results of the investigation, these police officers will be held accountable for their actions."

CNMI Attorney General Edward Manibusan told KUAM today that he has "no comment at this time." Meanwhile, Bermudes is in his first month on the job after being appointed by Gov. Arnold Palacios and awaits Senate confirmation.

He tells us there are 195 officers at DPS.
