The president and CEO of Tan Holdings Jerry Tan was appointed to the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board under the nation's Department of Commerce.

The longtime Marianas-wide businessman was appointed this week by Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo along with 31 other industry leaders.

According to a media release, members provide advice on "government policies and programs affect the travel and tourism industry and offer counsel on current and emerging issues to support sustainable growth of the travel and tourism industry as our nation’s economic engine." Other members include Brian Chesky, the co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, Matt Goldberg who is the President and CEO of Tripadvisor, Inc.,and Stephen Scherr, CEO of Hertz Corporation.
