What to Do in Case of an Accident

(The Government of Guam requires that ALL vehicles be insured)
If you have an accident, you are required to:

  1. Stop and properly identify yourself to the other party. Leaving the scene of an accident where property damage has occurred is a MISDEMEANOR. If personal injury has resulted, it is a FELONY to leave the scene.
  2. If the property damage exceeds $100.00 or an injury has resulted, you should contact the police immediately, the law gives you a 24-hour period in which to report the accident.
  3. You are also required to report the accident within 10 working days from the time the police report has been completed to the Dept. of Revenue and Taxation if the damage exceeds $250.00 or someone has been injured.

Guam Construction Update

 

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction zones, observe all posted speed limit and construction signs, and carefully heed flaggers (when present). Alternate routes and/or adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.

 

Heavy Haul Cargo Transport for Ukudu Power Plant
Motorists are advised to drive with caution as prep work for the transport of heavy haul equipment for the new Ukudu Power Plant continues along Marine Corps Drive. Please plan to take alternate routes to your destination. Traffic signal span wire replacements will occur on the following dates:

Route 28 Rehabilitation from Route 1 to Bumuchachu Street – Dededo
From Monday, 1/9/23 – Sunday, 1/15/23 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, motorists are advised that there will be lane shifts and intermittent lane closures along Route 28 (Ysengsong Road) from Buena Vesta Avenue to San Antonio Avenue.

From Monday, 1/9/23 – Sunday, 1/15/23, access to East San Antonio Avenue from Route 28 will be closed to traffic. Motorists will have to take East Santa Barbara Avenue or East Santa Monica Avenue. Signs for alternate routes will be posted.

 

Route 5 and Portion of Route 12, Reconstruction and Widening (Route 2A to Naval Magazine/Route 12) – Santa Rita
Construction activities will continue along Route 5 from Route 2A to Juan C. Lizama Street with intermittent lane closures. Motorists are advised to slow down while driving through this area.

 

Route 14B (Ypao Road) Reconstruction and Widening (Route 14 to Carmen Memorial Dr), Phase 1 Cliffside – Tamuning
There is a full road closure between Congressman Palting Loop and Pale San Vitores Road for the construction of a new retaining wall and widening of Ypao Road. Motorists will have to take alternate routes. The full road closure is expected to last until May 2023.

 

Islandwide Guardrail Repair and Replacement – Route 4 between Route 1 and Route 10
Motorists are advised of possible lane closures throughout the week between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM Tuesday, 1/10/2023 to Friday, 1/13/2023.

 

Islandwide Village Street Pavement Resurfacing – Dededo
The DPW HMC crew will continue preparing Chalan Pujitos for paving and may begin preparing Chalan Kareta for paving if time and weather permits. Work will occur between the hours of 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. There will be intermittent lane closures. We encourage residents in these areas to exercise caution.
