A man was arrested following a shooting reported in Dededo midday Monday.

Twenty-six-year-old Sha-Hon M. Lowry was arrested on suspicion of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The shooting was reported at 12:04 p.m. along Borja Street located off Chalan Koda.

Officers from Dededo Precinct Command responded to the scene.

Lowry allegedly admitted to shooting a dog who he thought was about to attack him, according to Guam Police Department Spokesperson Officer Berlyn Savella. The dog was able to get away unharmed, and no other injuries were reported.

Authorities have not released additional information about the case.

Lowry is being held at the Department of Corrections.
