Non-critical NMI gov't employees granted admin leave for Pacific Mini Games
CNMI Governor Ralph Torres granted admin leave starting at 12 pm on Friday for all non-critical government employees because of the 2022 Pacific Mini Games.
"The CNMI has truly shown its perseverance by rising up to the challenge to host the NMPMG despite setbacks caused by the super typhoons we have faced, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic," Torres said in his memorandum. "These games, especially in these times, represent the best of humanity and our need to come together, to cheer each other on, to strive to do our best, to test the limits of our abilities, and break down barriers."
The mini-games opening ceremony kicks off tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. on Saipan. The games span from June 17-25 and include 20 countries competing across 9 sports. This is the first time the NMI is hosting the games.
