Ina Lee got the terrifying phone call early Wednesday morning her son Aaron and his friend Jonathan were assaulted at the Dededo Skate Park. The injuries were so severe they were rushed to the nearby Guam Regional Medical City.

Heartbroken over the brutal assault on her son and his friend, Lee spoke shared with KUAM what she was told happened that morning.

"And suddenly, these two drunk boys come over and you want to fight, fight, fight, and then my son goes just leave us alone, we're just talking to my friends," she said.  "And my son was really in pain of his eye."

According to Lee her son received nine stitches but it was Jonathan who took the brunt of the blows as one of the assailants grabbed a glass bottle and lodged into his eye.

"He lost his eye," she said. "I thought he would lose his eye too. He was all blood, had blood all over the body."

She says the assault was captured on a phone from one of the suspects involved joking, and making fun of the situation. But Lee is not laughing she's hoping our leaders will do more about preventing crime on Guam. She says it took officers more than 20 minutes to respond to the park.

Melissa Savares, the mayor of the island's most populated village says they're lucky if there are even five officers on patrol in the Dededo area.

"They respond when they can, unfortunately, they didn't respond right away during the incident," she said.

Lee said instead it was witnesses who immediately came to the aid of her son and Jonathan.

"There were skaters at the skate park that came over, and helped. If they didn't help, my two boys would be dead already," she said.

KUAM did try and get a comment from the Guam Police Department. They confirmed they are actively investigating the case, but could not release any details at this time.
