Federal agencies in Guam were the first to observe the new Juneteenth federal holiday, which President Joe Biden signed just signed into law.

The U.S. District Court was closed today, along with all the other federal agencies, and the military. They were guided on the holiday observance by a memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management dated June 17. It was official notice that the Juneteenth National Independence Day is now on the list of official holidays for federal employees. It also formally advised that since June 19 falls on a Saturday, it should be observed on Friday the 18.
