Female senators attending Australian conference for women lawmakers
Three Guam senators are in Australia for the week. Speaker Tina Muna Barnes and Sens. Regine Biscoe Lee and Mary Torres are all attending a conference for women lawmakers.
The senators are attending the 2019 United Nations Programme Pacific Women in Power Forum at the invitation of the United Nations development fund, according to Sen. Lee's office.
Each senator was given the opportunity to participate in specific forums and round tables. Sen. Lee, the committee on rules chair, will be speaking in a forum on "social media and parliaments."
Lee left Sunday for the conference and her office confirms she will return to the island over the weekend. The airfare, hotel and per diem are all being paid for the UN's development fund, Lee's office said.
