Guam - To help the prison cope with overpopulation, the Judiciary of Guam is also doing their part.
Acting administrator of the courts Josh Tenorio was just one of five Judiciary representatives present at today's prison tour. Today he announced plans to partner with G4S Security Solutions to pilot electronic bracelets.
"I think they're trying to rework the technology and if I'm not mistaken, they're working with the cellphone carriers to see which ones are the most reliable so we can determine which of the pretrial detainees, and we're working on a list to come up with a number of what probation officers would recommend to judges to recommend electronic monitoring rather than detention," he explained.
It was noted today that the prison population is comprised mostly of detainees. Although many are released daily, the detainee population stays constant at over 400.
