Guam - The EMS for Children Program and the Office of Highway Safety provided child restraint demonstrations at Kmart today.

From infancy until your child reaches the height of 4'9" they must be in a child safety restraint seat.

And with a variety of child seats made to fit your child as he or she grows it is important to make sure your child is in the right one.

Child safety instructor Therese Matanane said, "The Guam law requires that children who are below twelve who are less than four feet nine must be in a booster seat this is a combination that can be used as a forward facing and a booster seat."

Mantanane says that parents must read the manual that accompanies the booster seat to keep their child safe.

She adds nowadays child safety seats have expiration dates and once that date is reached the seat must be replaced. She stresses that if you are involved in an accident parents should purchase a new car seat to ensure that safety is not compromised.
