Guam - Suspects in an early morning robbery lead police in a wild chase through the village, shutting down parts of Tamuning.

"This morning about 3:30 a.m. we received a call of a robbery at the Days Inn located on Ypao Road. The front desk was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash as well as his vehicle," explained Office AJ Balajadia, spokesman for the Guam Police Department.

But it wasn't your typical robbery. Balajadia says the two male suspects, one wearing a camouflage mask and the other wearing an orange construction reflection vest, led officers in a chase through the village.

"The suspects fled in that vehicle and officers were able to locate that vehicle moments after the robbery. 0030 they located it and followed it down Marine Drive onto Route 14, that's GPO road, towards the Golden Motel where officers said that one of the individuals in the vehicle shot at their patrol car."

Officers reported hearing three gunshots fired in their direction, but continued to follow from a distance before the suspects parked at the old hospital site.

"We cordoned off that area and asked for SWAT, K-9, the Criminal Justice Strike Force. We had patrol from all of the precincts. We had a certain number of patrol at the scene. We also had the harbor units out in the water," he added.

With both land and sea covered, the suspects were cornered.

"SWAT and K-9 as well as Patrol were able to push through the area towards the cliffline where they were ultimately apprehended. Afaisen was located in a house that was under construction in a bathroom by Criminal Justice Strike Force. And Harbor and Patrol were able to locate White on the cliffline. He was taken into custody as well," Balajadia said.

35-year-old Irvin Muna white iii and 38-year-old Tommy Quichocho Afaisen were arrested for attempted murder, robbery, assault on a police officer, burglary, terrorizing, reckless conduct, resisting arrest and conspiracy.
Both were booked and confined.

Both White and Afaisen have had their share of run-ins with the law. White's first arrest was in 2003 and again in 2012 for theft and burglary. Court records also show Afaisen has cases going back as far as 1998, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2011, and most recently in 2012.
