Guam - Next month, lawmakers will hold its last session for the 32nd Guam Legislature. Speaker Judi Won Pat says while she expects dozens of bills to make it on the last agenda, she also wants to provide some time for senators to close out several issues that have been pending.

"There's a lot of tying up loose ends that other members want to put out, and I think we'll be able to do that 0848 and whatever does not, we're so close to the new session and I'm encouraging the new senators, take the bill and reintroduce it now early on in the year, so it will be heard early rather than the end of this year if we're not able to get to it," she explained,

There are several bills that wait to be heard in session including the Hybrid Retirement Bill and Bill 281 that would authorize the Government of Guam to pursue compensation from the feds for their contribution to the Ordot Dump. Both bills were sent back to committee after initially being heard in earlier session. Bills that are not heard or passed before the end of the year will die in this particular term, but Won Pat says they can still have a new life in the next legislature. Session is expected to begin in the second week of December.
