Guam - Efforts to remove the fishing vessel which ran aground near Cocos Island over a month ago has begun according to United States Coast Guard public information officer Lieutenant William White. The salvage process will include cutting the vessel into piece its current location. The pieces will then be removed from the site by barges designed to operate in shallow water.  The Guam Environmental Protection Agency, the vessel's representative and the Coast Guard are working to ensure that the salvage operations do not endanger the environment as well as mitigating environmental hazards.
