Guam - Get ready for the first annual Guam Visitor's Bureau BBQ Block Party happening on May 11 from 5:30pm to 10pm at Pleasure Island in Tumon. The Block Party has been in the works for a couple of months and GVB general manager Karl Pangelinan attributes the idea to Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio.

"It started with the lieutenant governor's vision about just showcasing culture. What better way to do it then through our cuisine and what we do best, which barbecue," he said.

The event is aimed at not only attracting local residents but to engage visitors in being a part of island life and leisure. He said, "It's going to be a true block party in a sense that we are going to close the streets down we are going to have all sorts of cultural performers. Of the course the centerpiece of the block party will be the BBQ contest, so I think there's about a dozen contestants."

The block party will also feature cultural presentations, talaya demonstrations, local entertainment as well as arts and crafts and more.

roads will be closed for the BBQ Block Party from San Victores Road, DFS Galleria to the Sandcastle from May 11 at 11am to May 12 at 5am.
