Guam - There's more information being released about the rock throwing incident KUAM News reported yesterday. Two Navy medics were injured while trying to provide mutual aide to a report of a sick person in the Santa Ana area of Dededo on Tuesday night. Upon driving into the area, the ambulance was surrounded by several individuals who threw rocks and cracked the windshield and shattered the passenger window.
Guam Police Department spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says police responded and discovered that four underage men were drinking vodka inside a bus stop when one of the individuals became combative and started yelling at people passing by, throwing rocks at vehicles. Police believe a riot broke out and was racially motivated as Chuukese and Pohnpeians were fighting each other.
A 16- and 17-year-old were taken into custody and 18-year-old Ronat Chutaro was arrested, as well. As a result of the incident, the police chief is considering re-implementing Operation Dragon, which combated public drunkenness and the consumption of alcohol at bus shelters, mom-and-pop stores and other establishments around the island.
