DPW needs 115 operational buses
Guam - With just three weeks until the start of classes, the Department of Public Works is hustling to get the bus fleet up and running. According to DPW deputy director Carl Dominguez, there are 106 operational buses as of Tuesday, but the agency needs at least 115 buses on the road.
Dominguez tells KUAM News he's optimistic as bus parts are coming in while other buses are being reupholstered.
In the meantime, the Department of Education continues to iron-out the details to procure $150,000 to lease up to 15 buses and pay bus driver overtime for the duration of first quarter at George Washington High School. 17 classrooms at the Mangilao school will be taken offline to undergo science, technology, engineering, and mathematics renovations.
