Guam - Students from the School of Health at the University of Central Washington are not only indulging in Guam's summer festivities, but are doing some community work in the village of Mangilao. Mayor Nito Blas together with Municipal Planning Council member Bob Pelkey have wanted to refurbish the district's basketball court, but have been unable to do so due to low funds.

Thanks to the generosity of the CWU students, there are two new backboards for the project.  "The students approached me that they had some funding that they did as fundraising for community outreach," recalled the mayor, "and I kind of married the two ideas together and that's why we are here today."

Blas and Pelkey are hoping to completely restore the basketball courts in the village and at Pagat.
