Fernandez hopes for more with busses soon

Guam - Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez expects to iron out details on the bussing situation for George Washington High School by next Monday. The superintendent met with GW's administration, Public Works and governor's education advisor Vince Leon Guerrero on Wednesday.
Officials are pushing for double-session, but DPW will only agree to that if the department finances the cost to lease the buses, pay overtime and cover the cost of fuel. Fernandez hopes to have an idea of how much that will cost next week.
Double-session is becoming a favored alternative as 17 classrooms at the Mangilao campus are undergoing various renovations that will put them offline for the new school year. Fernandez estimates the cost could be $150,000 to meet DPW's demands.
