Firefighters test for nat'l certification
by Nick Delgado
Guam - The Guam Community College is the recipient of state of the art equipment that was recently donated by two visiting instructors conducting emergency medical technician testing at the school. This week local and federal firefighters are putting their EMT skills to the test.
The donated equipment will be used during the training to help save lives. GCC is currently conducting a transition course for EMTs helping them come into compliance with national standards. EMS operations acting chief Darren Burrier said, "With all this training we are going to do an eventually we are going to bring all out advanced EMTs up to a paramedic level and all have national certification and validation and they will be able to take that certification anywhere in the nation if they decide to relocate from Guam."
The fire captain adds once the testing is completed then firefighters will be taking a national registry EMT exam for their new certification.
