Cameron could make historic descent this weekend
Guam - If the weather permits Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron will attempt to dive to the deepest point on earth, Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench this weekend, according to National Geographic representative Ellen Stanley. She adds an unmanned test was conducted earlier this week and it was deemed successful.
Cameron's dive is part of a partnership with National Geographic and Rolex. Joining Cameron on this historic mission is Don Walsh, the only other living person to dive Challenger Deep. Also on the expedition are scientists from across the globe. The University of Guam also provided logistical support.
