Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital's Board of Trustees is expected to get an update on negotiations between management and TakeCare Insurance. The provider is looking to have a direct payer agreement reinstated. As it stands now, beginning on March 20, TakeCare's 30,000 members will be considered self-pay patients at the hospital.

Management and TakeCare have been in negotiations about the provider's denial rates and payment rates. GMH officials have accused TakeCare of being one of the worst payers on the island historically paying out $0.50 on the dollar.

The board last week voted to continue negotiations and present an update to the board this Thursday night.
