Guam - Legislation proposing to increase the Business Privilege Tax exemptions went up from a public hearing this morning. Bill 287 was introduced several months ago by Senator Judi Guthertz to provide relief to small businesses. The recent enactment of public allowing for the bond authorizations sets certain restrictions surrounding BPT program, including exemptions.

She announced, "Mr. Chairman, the timing of the bill maybe problematic at this moment because of the recent bond float and. I would like to say for the record that I certainly do not in any way want to impede the proceeds from the bond that was recently signed by the governor and the attorney general from proceeding without impediment."

Both the AG and Governor's Office requested the measure be withdrawn.
