Guam - In the hopes that public schools locally and across the nation are repaired and modernized, Guam Federation of Teachers president Matt Rector is urging union members and island residents to sign a petition. The American Federation of Teachers is circulating a petition, seeking 25,000 signatures to fix and upgrade crumbling public schools across the country and in the territories.

Rector urges residents to be active, saying participating in such petitions reminds voting congress members that Guam is part of the United States. The signatures must be received by November 30 for the White House's review.
