Guam - Several health care professionals from American Samoa, Hawaii, the CNMI and Guam gathered to discuss ways to better emergency medical services for children. EMSC program project officer Therese Quinata says the group is traveling the region ensuring everyday pediatric readiness is being given.
"They can talk about what delays the transport of a child to specialty care and also look at our current system if its capable of managing, treating and stabilizing our children prior to transport or at least locally and do we have the systems able to do that, so it's all about solution finding," she said.
The group also discussed concerns about whether the new aircraft united airlines will be bringing to the region will be equipped to handle infants and children needing medical transports off island. Health Committee chair Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr. also presented certificates to the group for their efforts.
