Guam - With approval from the Department of the Interior today, Governor Eddie Calvo says money can go to the University of Guam to thwart a tuition hike. Governor Calvo says DOI's approval for an increase in Section 30 advances made the additional funding available.

Senator Ben Pangelinan believes the governor was hiding this potential revenue and introduced legislation, which was passed this week to appropriate funding from this source to go to UOG and tax refunds saying it will stop the tuition hikes so long as the governor signs Bill 308 into law. Governor Calvo however credits Senator Aline Yamashita for actually fighting to prevent a tuition increase before it even made headlines.
